Airtel Launches ‘Deedew’

Airtel Ghana recently launched a national consumer promotion dubbed ‘D??d?w’ (Akan for ‘sweet’) with the offer of a brand new Honda CRV SUV as the ultimate prize.

The three-month promotion started on December 1, 2012 and ends on February 28, 2013.

At a short but impressive session with the media to launch the promotion, Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, Philip Sowah said Airtel Ghana had strategically planned the promotion to offer Airtel customers a chance to win exciting prizes that would fit into the Christmas season and further offer money and other exciting rewards to customers.

“At Airtel, we do not merely want to fit into Ghana’s telecommunication space, but we strive to stand out in the industry. That is why we have consistently offered some of the lowest tariffs and gone on to make our network better by using state-of-the-art equipment so our customers are able to truly enjoy our services and products. To top it up, we are offering these faithful customers the chance to win three cars, cash, tickets to watch Arsenal FC play at the Emirates in London and win some of Samsung’s high end devices,” Mr. Sowah said.

Philp Sowah also announced that winners would be selected through 9 weekly wins with the winner being the customer with the highest accumulated points from all legs of usage for that week.

Hundred customers will be rewarded weekly. There will also be two monthly wins with the winner being the customer with the highest accumulated points for four weeks in the first month.

Month two will include points accumulated from the previous month with 100 customers being rewarded.

In the Grand Draw, the total points gathered from months 1, 2 and 3 will be used to select the overall winners. Again 100 customers will be rewarded.

Patrick Nathan Ofosu, Senior Marketing Manager for Acquisition at Airtel Ghana, explained that winners were determined via the accumulation of points.

“If non-Airtel customers want to take part, all they need to do is simply buy Airtel SIM cards and activate to earn points. Customers earn points by recharging with either scratch cards or through Airtel Money /Pre-Tups to earn points. Points are accumulated via daily usage – Voice, Data, SMS, Airtel Money Transactions,” he said.

Mr. Ofosu added that customers could multiply their daily points by 5 when they met their daily Obolobo 5X target.

The Chief Operating Officer of Airtel Ghana, Mrinal Roy, reiterated Airtel’s commitment to rewarding loyal customers and attracting new ones through products and services that were relevant.

“With this exciting promotion, we at Airtel will help make the Christmas season more fun and rewarding for our customers and the new ones we are ready to welcome,” he said.
