The aggrieved customers of the First Liberty Micro Finance Limited, a non-banking financial institution, on Tuesday besieged the premises of the Company in Sunyani to demand their cash deposits.

When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) got to the office premises, which was located behind the Sunyani Coronation Park, around 1000 hours, the Company had locked its office, but the visibly angry customers were there in their numbers.

They told the GNA in a random interview that their cash deposits amounting to millions of Ghana Cedis had been locked up with the Company.

The GNA investigations revealed that the Company had not opened its office for some months now because it was going through serious financial crisis.

Mr. Kwaku Duah, a farmer and a customer told the GNA that they heard an announcement on a local radio station that the Company was going to open the office to reimburse the customers.

Most of the angry customers were unhappy about how the firm was handling the situation, and are threatening legal actions against it.

After waiting for a while, some of the customers attempted to break into the office building, but they were restrained by a few of the depositors.

Another customer, Madam Charity Kwarteng, a hairdresser told the GNA that she had deposited an amount of 0GHC3,000.00 with the company.

Other customers who said their deposits ranged between GHC200.00 and GHC30,000.00, appealed to the Bank of Ghana to intervene, saying all attempts to withdraw their monies had been unsuccessful.

The GNA however, could not reach any official of the Company to interview.
