Accra bourse rises on banking stocks, others

Accra, March 8, GNA - The GSE-Composite Index (GSE-CI), the benchmark measure of performance of the Ghana Stock Exchange, on Monday, rose by 4.7 points to close at 1,058.81 points from 1,054.11 points. The year-to-date now stands at 5.88 per cent.

The GSE-Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI), which tracks the performance of listed financial stocks, also gained 6.2 points to 1,039.14 points from 1,032.94 points at the previous session, with a year-to-date change of 3.91 per cent.

Four equities gained while two saw losses during the session. Ghana Commercial Bank appreciated by GH¢0.09 to GH¢2.37, Mechanica= l Llyod was up by GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.11, Standard Chartered bank advanced by GH¢0.02 to GH¢48.06 and Ghana Oil Company Limited was better by GH¢0.= 01 to GH¢0.31. On the flip side CAL Bank shed GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.33 and Fan Milk fel= l by GH¢0.01 to GH¢2.50. Market capitalization closed the session at GH¢20,090.10 million. Total shares traded were 768,751 shares, valued at GH¢1.79 million.
