Accra bourse index falls

Accra, Jan. 9, GNA - The benchmark GSE-All Share Index lost 25.38 points during Friday trading session, pulled down by a 1,000-cedi loss by SSB Bank Limited.

The index ended the day at 3,607.65 points from 3,633.03 points with change for the year declining to 1.53 points from 2.24 points. Total shares traded fell to 500,200 shares down from 561,000 shares recorded last Wednesday.

There were nine price changes - six positive and three negative. Standard Chartered Bank made one cedi at 67,001, Ghana Commercial Bank climbed up 15 cedis at 8,615 cedis, Guinness Ghana Limited was up four cedis at 5,670 cedis, Home Finance Company gained 49 cedis at 4,050 cedis.

Unilever was three cedis richer at 14,058 cedis and Mechanical Lloyd one cedi at 701 cedis.

Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) and British America Tobacco (BAT) lost a cedi each at 630 cedis and 5,500 cedis, respectively. Market capitalisation decreased at 12,753.76 billion cedis from a high of 12,817.85 billion cedis at the previous close on Wednesday.
