Accra Bourse Index records impressive performance

Accra, Aug. 20, GNA - The GSE-All Share Index, the benchmark measure of the Ghana stock Exchange, rallied in mid-week trading on Wednesday rising 33.1 points in an active market to close 2,458.86 up from 2,425.76 at the previous session.

Traded volumes, which had dipped to a low of 34,400 shares on Monday, rose steeply to close 1,230,400 shares, thanks to Guinness Ghana Limited, which sold over 900,000 shares.

The change for the year to date ended up at 76.22 per cent. In the broader market, there were eight price changes all positive.

Unilever gained 390 cedis at 8,500 cedis, Ghana Commercial Bank was up 200 cedis at 7,821 cedis, Enterprise Insurance Company went up 100 cedis and SSB Bank gained 90 cedis at 7,600.

Produce Buying Company rose 40 cedis, its second appreciation in the week, to close at 820 cedis, Sam Woode Limited gained one cedi at 286 cedis, Patterson Zochonis went up one cedi at 2,254 cedis and British American Tobacco one cedi at 2,052 cedis.

Market capitalization was up 9,798.91 billion cedis from 9,715.30 billion cedis at the close of trading on Monday.
