ADB spent over GHC650,000 on farmers day celebration

The farmers day celebration which awarded more than 17 farmers across the ten regions of Ghana, cost the nation over GH¢650,000.

This was revealed by the Agricultural Development Bank.

The celebration which presented millions of dollars, series of equipment and saloon vehicles and other cash prizes to hard working farmers cost the Agric Bank (ADB) millions of cedis, the Managing Director (MD) of the ADB Bank, Dr John Kofi Mensah, has revealed.

The celebration which brought thousands of farmers together across the nation’s district and metropolis, was to encourage farmers to provide their best for the nation’s economy.

Addressing the National Farmers’ Forum in Kumasi, Dr Kofi Mensah added that, “this year’s farmers day celebration took over GH¢650,000 from the agric bank purse.”

According to him, boosting the agric sector was one of the bank’s priority, thus spending such amount to support the nation.

He further expressed that, for farmer’s complaints and suggestions to be heard for prompt solutions, the Bank had instituted specialized desks at various branches of the bank to render support to farmers in any form.

2017 farmer’s day celebration awarded a fifty year old farmer from the Dormaa West District in the Brong Ahafo Region, Mr Philip Kwaku Agyeman agyekum, as the National Best Farmer with a cash prize of $100,000.
