ABL launches new product

Accra, June 20, GNA - Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) has introduced a new product, Ghana's first malt liquor beverage, onto the market. Known as Chairman, it is the only spirit based alcoholic beverage with a touch of ginger, a statement from the company on Friday said. "Chairman, is carefully made with the finest malt, ginger, grits, hops, potable alcohol and the purest water, making it distinctively rich and bold," the statement said. It contains 10.1% alcohol by volume (ABV) and will be sold in a 375ml returnable brown bottle. It would have a guaranteed recommended retail price of 60Gp nationwide.

The statement said for the past 12 months, ABL had interacted with Ghanaian consumers, extensively researching the dynamics of the local beverage market. "Our research has revealed that many consumers are drinking tots of spirits, especially local herbal based spirits due to its affordability as against beer. "We believe that the Ghanaian consumer has a need for the alcohol value of spirits even though they prefer the aspiration and sociability of a beer or stout."

Mr. Grant Liversage, Managing Director of ABL, said: "We believe Chairman, a high quality malt liquor will be a popular and affordable alternative for the consumer who wants more value for their money, all at a guaranteed 60Ghp."
