Weight lifters to contest at Commonwealth Games

The African Youth Championship Bronze Medalist is looking forward to making it to the Commonwealth Games in October.

Her best weight at the Youth Championship in Egypt in March this year, was 70 kilograms, but Alberta went further this time to lift the 90 kilogram weight, setting a new national record.

Her best combined weights of 155 kilograms makes her a likely candidate for the games.

The trials also saw a novice, Juliana Arkoh, who competed in the 54-kilogram category, going beyond her usual 40 kilograms to 55 kilograms being her best so far.

Captain of the female side, Afi Abotsi and 55 kilogram lifter, Ruth Baffoe also put up impressive performances.

Coach Najeti Fetrie, will certainly make it to the games to defend his gold medal in the 80 kilogram category.

Other prospective weightlifters who are aiming for a place in the final list are; Seth Fetrie Junior, Joe Sintim, Larkyne Nii Otoo and Nii Tackie Junior.

However, the final trial in September will decide.
