Haye-Yartey re-elected GBFA boss

Abdul-Haye Yartey has been re-elected as President of the Ghana Body building and Fitness Association (GBFA) for the next four years.

Mr Yartey was elected unopposed after receiving massive endorsement from all 12 eligible voters at the Association’s Congress and polls held at the media center of the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

The elections supervised by the National Sports Authority (NSA) saw the incumbent polling 12 out of the 12 votes.

Another position elected unopposed was that of the Technical Director which went to Vincent Pearce Edwards.

George Forster Baffoe polled nine out of 12 votes to retain the Treasurer position.

The vice presidential slot went to Charles Owusu Ansah who had nine votes against his closest contestant, Samuel Adjei.

Director General of the NSA, Prof. Peter Twumasi congratulated the association for holding a very successful election.

He urged other associations to make their constitutions clear and transparent to avoid litigation.

Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) president, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah urged the newly elected officers to continue with the good works that has seen the sport chalked huge successes in the last term.

He pledged them the support of the GOC as they aim to spread and grow the sport across the country.

In his first official speech, Mr. Haye Yartey announced that it would be his last term in office.

He pledged to work together with other executive members to rebrand the GBFA to make it attractive to attract sponsorship.
