One Air Peace co-pilot, David Bernard, don come out publicly to deny di claims by di Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) say im test positive of alcohol and drugs, afta dia report show di cabin crew test positive of 'substance' use.

Bernard wey bin dey among di flight crew explain give Arise TV inside one interview say im no dey use any hard substance and NSIB suppose carry out di test in front of di crew members wit breathalyser, testing dia breathe.

E tok say instead dem collect dia blood and urine samples and den come back wit result wey show say dem dey positive of substance use afta ten days.

"I no dey take alcohol, or any drug I no dey drink. Na 2025 we dey, if you dey try do drugs and alcohol blood test, we get something wey dem dey call di breathalyser, wia you fit do your test right dia. You go blow in your breathe into di breathalyser. E go check di amount of alcohol wey dey your system," e tok.

"But dis guys for di Port Harcourt Airport take our blood samples and urine on di 13th and den, dem come back on di 23rd of July wit di result. I mean, how long e dey take for result to come out?"

Bernard tok say NSIB no fit just destroy im career like dat becos im pay plentii money for flying school and dem suppose even use hospital wey di aviation recognise to conduct di blood test.

"Blood test no even make any sense. You no fit just jeopardize pesin image. Dem take di test out into non-aviation recognised hospital. E no just dey make sense at all. And I no dey drink. I no dey smoke. I no dey do alcohol," Bernard tok.

"Na 2025 we dey so and we pay plenti money for dis flying school. You no fit just jeopardise pesin image, you dey tell me say I dey take alcohol. You carry di test out to one hospital wey aviation no recognise. So, e no make sense at all. I no dey drink or smoke."

Bernard tok say di airline dey do routine checks for dia flight crew and dia result na immediate while e dey call for transparency of di process.

On July 13, 2025, Airpeace aircraft bin run pass di normal distance ontop di runway wit na 103 passgners on board two Co-pilots and five Cabin crew for Port Harcourt airport.

On Friday, afta NSIB conduct dia investigations dia reports claim say di flight crew test positive of 'substances' use.

Meanwhile NSIB tok say afta dem conduct toxicological test on di flight crew for Rivers State Hospital Management Board, department of Medical Laboratory Port Harcourt dem test positive for some substances."

NSIB claim say dia investigation show say di captain and some crew members test test positive for drug and alcohol use.

"Di Captain also test positive for cotinine wey indicate recent nicotine use," NSIB tok.

"Cabin crew member test positive for THC, di psychoactive component wey dey for cannabis."

Meanwhile Air Peace airline, don respond say dem neva receive communication from NSIB ontop di testing of dia crew members.

Di airline say dem dey conduct regular alcohol and drug test on dia crew and di Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority don clear di captain of any alcohol and drug use.

On Saturday, NCAA tok-tok pesin, Michael Achimugu tok say dem carry out dia internal investigations and di pilots no test positive to any alcohol or drug use.

E tok say e no go dey fair to di pilot if dem suspend am for one year wen e no dey guilty on any wrongdoings afta dia investigation.

Anoda cabin crew member wey dey onboard, Victory Maduneme tok say NSIB no dey transparent wit dia process becos fligh crew no dey take alcohol or drug before dem resume duty.

She tok say dem take dia blood and urine and NSIB no come back with result afta two weeks.

She explan say di result shock am becos she dey sure say she no dey take alcohol or any drug and na dis make her take 'reconfirmatory test for Cooper Aerospace Clinic' wey later come out negative.

"On di 13th of July afta we land, NSIB come on board. Five hours later, dem ask us to come into one room for dem to do test. Dem collect our blood samples and our urine. Normally wen you take dis kind of tests, you suppose get your results within few hours. But dem no give us dat day," she tok.

"Two weeks later, on di 6th, NCAA give me one letta. I open di letta and I shock to see wetin dey inside my result. I go see di doctor and I tell di doctor say I dey very shock to see dis for my results and e no dey possible for me to get (marijuana and alcohol) for my system.

"Dem later ask me to do confirmatory test for Cooper Aerospace Clinic. Di doctor tell me say marijuana dey usually stays in di system for 90 days and advise say make I come back later, but I refuse. I do di test immediately and everything come out negative."
