Pregnant woman die afta failed surgery but wia di pikin? – Family ask arrested ‘doctor’

Family of Rachael Sampson wey allegedly die for di hand of one Dr Happiness Iheukumere alias Dr Hagi afta e allegedly perform caesarean section operation on her dey demand justice for dia daughter.

Sister of Racheal, Ruth Sampson say dem want Dr Hagi to provide di pikin wey e allegedly remove from dia sister as dat na di only tin wey fit console dia parents.

“Im [Dr Hagi] gatz to provide di pikin becos dat na di only tin wey my parents go use console demsefs. Dem no fit lose dia pikin and lose dia grandpikin. We no get money to do any case but we want justice.

"We want di goment to help us get justice for Rachael. Becos if we no track dat nurse Ugochi number, we for no know say dem don abandon her corpse for mortuary.

Barely two months afta Police for Rivers State arrest di doctor for child trafficking, dem don arrest am again becos e allegedly kill a 20-year-old pregnant woman and sell her baby.

Di 'doctor' dey operate Hagi Medical Center for Agboga along Etche road Ikwerre local council Rivers State, and e allegedly perform surgery on a pregnant woman identified as Racheal Sampson to remove her baby but di woman no survive am, yet e allegedly sell di pikin to buyer wey dem never identify.

Police tok tok pesin for Rivers State Police Command SP Grace Iringe-Koko as she confam di tori to BBC News Pidgin say Dr Iheukeumere dey di custody of di State criminal investigation department for further investigation.

Di tori burst afta sister of Racheal Sampson wey die take to social media to explain how dem discover say dia sister don die, allegedly for di hand of di doctor.

She say Dr Iheukeumere tell di nurse to inform dem say dia sister Racheal die for car accident.

“On di 15th of November 2023, one anonymous lady call us to inform us say my sister don die for car crash. Di informant send us a fake number and tell us say she get di tip-off from dat number. We ask her wia my sister body dey but she no tok.

She add say dem bin don dey communicate wit Racheal through di Nurse phone wen she bin dey with her .

She add say dem report di development to di Police wey help dem to track di anonymous lady wey bin give dem di tip-off.

“Di anonymous lady claim say she be POS agent wey dey stay for Choba in Rivers State, but dat turn out to be false as we find out say she be nurse.

Police eventually arrest her and she confess say di doctor bin bring my sister to stay wit her for one week but later come pick her up on Monday, 13 November.

“Two days later, e [Dr Hagi] call di nurse and tell her say my sister die while im dey operate on her and instruct her not to tell di family. E order her to blacklist our numbers.”

She add say wen police question di nurses wey work wit Dr Happiness, dem admit say dem bin dey present wen di doctor perform surgery on Racheal and say she die afta di doctor give her strange injection and she bin dey inpains until she die.

Di nurses confam say di baby bin dey alive but di doctor take am to unknown destination. Fortunately, my mama catch am yesteday as e wan enter one motor and she raise alarm," Na so she tok.

Popularly known as “Dr Hagi” of Hagi Medical Center, located at Agboga street Igwuruta, Ikwerre LGA Rivers State, Police bin don earlier arrest Dr Happiness Enyinnaya Ihuekumere for October 2023 for allegedly trafficking four children to different parts of di kontri.

Further investigation lead to di recovery of three more children wey Hagi traffick from different locations in di kontri as CP Nwonyi say dem rescue three children wey dem abduct in Benue State from different locations in Port Harcourt.

Dis include a year and a seven-months- old-pikin, a four-year-old, and a six-year-old female pikin.

As of den Dr Hagi bin dey beg for mercy before dis recent incident come happen.

At di time of im arrest for October 2023, Chairman Nigerian Medical Association Rivers State branch, Dr Robinson Ebbi say investigation wey dem do show say “Dr Hagi” no be member of NMA and e never be member before and say difference dey between alternative medicine practice and orthodox medical practice.

Dr Ebbi ask di Rivers State Ministry of Health and Police to collaborate wit NMA to arrest quack doctors wey dey medical practice to save di lives of innocent pipo.
