Ghanaian basketball players thrill NBA Stars at All Africa Access clinic

Nearly one hundred Ghanaian basketball players participated in the one-day basketball clinic which was led by Golden State Warriors star David West and Phoenix Suns forward TJ Warren as coaches and role models to Ghana’s future prospects who exhibited their talents at the highest level.

Children under the ages of 10 and 18 were given the opportunity to showcase their basketball artistry in the presence of the NBA stars at an innovative coaching clinic held at the hard courts of University of Ghana on Tuesday, August 15.

Participants were taken through a workshop by sponsors of the event Zoetic Energy to give the upcoming players insights about developing hydro power plants to generate immediate hydrokinetic energy to address the deficits throughout the developing world. They were also enlightened on entrepreneurial skills as the program aimed at equipping young players in the country with requisite skills to succeed on and off the court in the future.

Alongside David West and TJ Warren, San Antonio Spurs Scout Pops Mensah-Bonsu formerly a baller for Toronto Raptors who was also present as well as Ghana Basketball coach of the year Mimi Falconer assisted the participants to go through the physical training successfully.

Participants went through series of workouts prior to getting coached in fundamental areas of the game like shooting, dribbling, defending in the one day program with the headlining trio leading sessions.

Prospective lads were selected to play an All Stars game in the under 10 and under 18 categories after playing series of preliminary games.

The selected players for under 18 category teamed up to play an engaging match between Team West versus Team Warren. The game drew basketball fanatics to the court to witness history in the making but after the proceedings, Team Warren emerged as winners after the score 52-49.

Event Organizers donated basketballs totalling about 50 to the prospective players who were shortlisted for the All Stars game.

Organizers of the event, Africa All Access were extremely grateful to the sponsors, players and fans who trooped the court in their numbers and also revealed their plans to host another exciting clinic in 2018.
