Ashaiman Lions and Tema Community 4 will meet in the 2017 Tema Basketball League Final in a fortnight after winning Groups A and B respectively earlier tonight.

Lions topped defending league champions’ 61-56 right after Community 4 cooled Tema Heat courtesy a 63-53 win in the opening tie.

Despite the close results, both victors did so in convincing fashion en route to setting up a mouth watering encounter at Tema’s Chinese Court.

Statistics, like the saying goes, is like a mini skirt; it shows a lot but not everything and that holds true of what took place at Community 4’s Court earlier tonight.

Winning by ten points is an underestimating measure to grade C4’s outright dominance against Tema Heat as the latter got largely outplayed by the homeside.

Ditto the rematch of last season’s final game where Lions always looked in control of a game it should have won by a wider margin but for slack play late on in the game.

Daniel Amartey stole the show in the third quarter with an elite shooting display by draining four three point shots. Defensive stalwarts Carl Kuzagbe and Abdul Bashiru chipped with tremendous work rebound the ball with Bashiru topping it up with a big putback slam in the second quarter.

Despite the frantic efforts of Coldstore’s Emmanuel Wolff and Edwin Appiah late in the fourth quarter with a three point shooting session of their own, the deficit proved too big to overcome.
