Dunks impress again in loss to Police in Accra Division II

Ghana Police just can’t stop winning in this year’s Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II campaign and despite a spirited performance by Dunk Knights, the veteran side’s depth and wealth of experience proved too much for the side to handle.

Police beat Knights 82-75 in tonight’s round of games played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu with the opening game having bottom ranked DCD Aspirants clinch a big 78-73 win over Tudu Galaxy.

Knights started the game on a high note by attacking Police but missed shots at the rim. However, team finally got on the boards with shot from Treasure Botchway, Abdul-Salim Husein. Botchway gave Dunk a 12-10 lead with 4:10 remaining in first quarter.

However, Prince Amissah, Benjamin Debrah and Emmanuel Dickson scored to tie score at 12 but got pegged back with a three point play from Jesse Amegbo. Debrah stole ball and scored layup to give Police 18-15 lead en route to his winning the first quarter 24-20.

Police ended the first half with a 43-32 lead as Knights fell short of contesting rebounds against the bigger opponent.

The third quarter began slowly as both teams missed clear looks at the rim. However Dunk got going after converting several free throw shots as Police racked up fouls midway through the quarteras Richard Osei and Amegbo starred to get Dunk trailing 48-55.

Dunk Guard Husein ball faked two Police players before scoring to get Knights within five points of Police’ lead right before Debrah scored two straight layups to bump score to 63-52 lead. Joel Koboayere scored turn around jump shot but Police went on a three point shooting exhibition as the team drained three pointers in response with two coming from Awal Mohammed.

Police led 80-73 with 56 seconds remaining before both teams scored to end the contest winning by seven points. The loss is Knights seventh in eight games.
