Basketball not growing as much in Ghana - Giants of Africa rep

According to Giants of Africa (GOA) Ghana Coordinator Neequaye Kotei, basketball is not growing as it should in Ghana. He stated this in an interview on basketball program “Courtside” on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports ahead of this year’s GOA Camp.

The not for profit organization is set to organize its third camp in Ghana where young players are put through various developmental programs in and out of the sport.

Despite massive interest in the sport, Kotei believes the interest is yet to translate into actual growth in the country saying:

“Basketball is growing but not growing as much as it should” but was quick to point out the importance of interventions such as GOA’s Camp since it boost the sport’s development.

This year’s camp will be held in Prestea in Ghana’s Western Region; this is the first time the camp will be held outside Ghana’s capital, Accra. Mining firm Golden Star Resources is the main partner.

54 players will participate in the program which runs from October 12-14. GOA was founded by Toronto Raptors General Manager Masai Ujiri.
