Ahead of a busy period on Ghana’s Senior High School sports calendar, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) is set to roll out the Accra Mayor’s Cup, a basketball Tournament for selected Senior High Schools in Accra.

The latest development is in line with Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Mayor Mohammed Adjei Sowah’s vision to promote sports in Ghana’s capital Accra; AMA will partner Rite Sports Limited to organize the upcoming competition.

The maiden edition of the Accra Mayor’s Cup is a one-day competition that takes place at the Bukom Boxing Arena later this month with four schools in the Boys Division and four schools in the Girls Division scheduled to compete in honour of the Accra Mayor.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Rite Sports Chief Executive Officer Yaw Sakyi Afari believes the tournament will aid in the development and promotion of basketball in the city.

“As an entity that has been at the forefront of basketball development and promotion, we-Rite Sports-commend the Mayor for his partnership and support for the development of basketball in Accra” he stated.

Rite Sports Limited is a sports marketing organization that has over a decade long experience organizing sports events including the Azumah Nelson Fight Night, Sprite Ball Championship, Ghana Basketball Awards and UPAC Basketball Championship.
