Entertainment tyme with DJ Amess

Hello buddies, wada up and what dey happen? Nothing dey happen so, so yeah! yeah!!. You are welcome aboard flight WFET -105 (Weekly Fylla Entertainment Tyme) with your flight Capt. DJ Amess. Fasten all seat belts as we fly above 30,000 feet above sea level. No smoking and switch off all gadgets as we take off.

In the flight today we have the man who has refused to become old but want to remain young and the other man who nearly became a lawyer but ended up in the studios, which studio and who are they? But who is celebrating what, yo, have you heard the latest Gossip in town? Ok, stay put since its time to get some kicks and laughter and woe betides any one who will holler while I go through the LPMs show that snob the exist….

Folks, for those of you who  are a little bit older and could remember the great curfew in the 80s at the same time mobile spinning with groups like Sky Hawks led by Young Joe, Mec Sounds led by Precious Jingles, Willie Chii, AFC Sounds and the later day saints like Zayaa, Vee Jay’s Moon Dogs among others. That was the days when we can chill till day break and if you want good music with good mixes then don’t mess-up with Sky Hawks and if is about humors and mimic like “Ogbami or halleluiah chorus” don’t  touch MEC Sounds. EH! Don’t go there. Ekomko.

But there is one person who have seen it all till date and he continue to mesmerize his listeners with what he started some 30 years ago and who am I talking about? YOUNG JOE KEEP PLAYING MY SONG, you remember him?

Well Folks, the legendary Young Joe is the man in contention here and a top hutch presenter of Hot 93.8 Fm in Accra. Not only does he play good music but he has a broad knowledge of world of music, be it old funk, R&B, Hiplife and Highlife (both contemporary and oldies). His selection and dexterity behind the console is second to none, no wonder his jingle tells it all: “Harmonious, ideal and natural sounds seeker”.

The dossier on him says that Joseph Kinston Essien went to Apam Secondary School and Accra Workers Collage before he commenced his Disc Jockeyship with the then popular nigh club in the capital, the Sparks Center before was hooked up by one Mr. Opoku a former steward in Ghana airways now a Reverend Minister to form Sky Hawks Soundz, the best all round mobile spinning group.

After the defunct of the group he became a sound engineer before joining Top Radio in 1999/2000 radio season where he curved an niche for him self until he was poached or is it free transfer to his current employers-Hot 93.8 Fm where he has been terrorizing the residents with his kind of music from10pm to 2am. His selection of music during this period cut across the contemporary Hilife, Hiplife, gospel and when it comes to weekend, Charlie, don’t go there with his old funky tunes that will catch you off guard. He does his job with precision and the accuracy it deserve. Keep it up boy, you can try him and hear what I am talking about. Before he takes over your radio there is this brilliant chap who shakes the capital and its environs with good music and amusement.

The after Rush Hour gimmick is the general supremo is no other person like Apa Jnr, who in his tender age wanted to become a lawyer..”I am still interested in that job and I hope to go back to school one day to achieve my heart desire” he told Weekly Fylla but the question is can he? He should because the in-flow of Payo… is not attractive as before.

Apa jnr was born and christened …..a brilliant academician who completed Prempeh Collage in Kumasi before joining Mercury Fm to Fox Fm doing all kind of presentation. In 2005 he was transferred to Accra to team up with his colleagues to take radio in Accra to another level.

Ever since he came to the capital the man we all love to hate has become epitome of hope for the youth as he socializes well with the youth and it is believe that if you want to your music to hit then see Apa Jnr. He knows when to talk and adlibbing trust me. He reminds me of the good old days when Bola Ray was Bolas at Top Radio (Top city Jam).

Currently, I can say without fear or favor that he is one of the most listened to in the capital. Like Okyeame, Apa has fallen for Oliver and his anchor man DJ Aloriga also make sure his interaction doesn’t bore the program. Perhaps the new kid on his show Bukom Banku who doesn’t know when to say “…Keep watchin’… eh keep listen to ..” you cant laugh. The smooth talker, runs the show like is nobody business. Apa Jnr day start on Monday evening 7pm to 10pm  and on Saturdays he host a program called Atumpan, a sort of mixed grill show here he play music and interview artist.
