Karlsson Fetes Musicians, Guests

The highlife show, organised by Mr. Mats Karlsson, World Bank Country Director, at his residence in Accra, last Saturday, was not just unique in style, but also had a great taste of glamour.

Guests were treated to high-charged and pulsating highlife music, performed by artistes as, Ebo Taylor, Papa Yankson, CK Mann, Stan Plange, and Jewel Ackah, alongside Prof. John Collins and Dr. Eddie Sogah.

However, guests as Major (rtd) Courage Quarshiga, Hon. Paa Kwesi Nduom, among others, could not stay glued to their seats, as they were gingered to put to fore, their ?starter-packed? dancing skills.

It was a show, fashioned never to be experienced again by those who missed it, as there were more to banquet with, than strawberry tarts. The guests were served with tasty savouries, as well as snacks and wines of our time.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Mart Karlsson indicated, ?the idea behind the event was to honour the pioneers of high life music?.

This, he mentioned, was the time to meet, dine and interact with the musicians, know their grievances and help find lasting solutions to them.

He told the gathering, the show was not the first of its kind. ?This is not the first time such a show has been organised.

It is the third time Ebo Taylor and his peers have been honoured this ample opportunity?, adding that, it shall be done often.

Accordingly, he advised stakeholders to take a second look at the Copyright Law, which he thought, should be structured to benefit all musicians.

Speaking to Beatwaves about his interest in locally-made wear or prints, he signalled to Africans, and for that matter, Ghanaians, how important these local products are, saying, ?I cannot understand why I should go about business, strangled to a neck tie, while there are comfortable and decent local wear?.
