Mama Cosa Releases Debut

A Fashion designer and beautician has earned a place on the shortlist of gospel music greats.

Born into a family of talented musicians it is therefore not surprising that 32 year-old Rosemary Gagbo Okansa, also known as ?Mama Cosa? has produced, arranged and composed her maiden album ?Amenuveve? (Grace).

The 12-track album, with the exception of two are sung in her local dialect, Ewe.

Second in a family of six, Rosemary is privileged to have Messrs Devine Gagbo, choir master and composer of the Evangelical Presbyterian E.P. Church, Ho, Moses Gagbo, music master of Amedzofe E.P. Training College and Mrs. Comfort Adu, a composer as her brothers and sister who inspired her with their melodies to join the gospel bandwagon.

Described as a woman of many parts, it came as no surprise when Rosemary contacted them as to her plans to release her maiden gospel album.

When Rosemary started following her siblings to choir practices at the Dela Cathedral of the EP Church in HO, little did she realize that her association with choristers was laying the foundation for her future career in music?

Her love for music continued when she was then the headmistress of Globe Serve World Training Institute, Ho, but had to resign to become one of the finest fashion designer, beautician and undertaker in the Volta Region.

According to Rosemary, she is presently based in Accra and married to an-Accra based private medical practitioner Dr. C.Y. Okansa and blessed with two kids, Caleb, 12 and Pearl, 9.

The album which will be officially launched this month opens with ?Masubowo? (I Will praise thee), ?Naneke Mesese O? (Nothing is difficult), ?Mamufe Amenuveve? (God?s grace), ?Mikpo Dizidzo? (We are glad), ?Wowalixo loo? (Thank You) and ?Kadia de? (A certain light).

The B side opens with the track ?Mawu wo nu ga? (God has done something great), ?I will never forget Jesus?, ?I will sing?, ?Miele lala wo? (We are awaiting on the Lord), ?Madza yowome? (I will follow thee).

Rosemary who hails from Vane Avatime in the Volta Region has backed renowned musicians with her sweet melodious voice including gospel greats like Prosper Adjaho, David and Peace Mawutor and Smart Hadzie.
