Born Kwaku A. Tutu, to Ashanti parents in Kumawu, a small village on the suburbs of Kumasi his story is one worthy of the directorial cinematography of great names such as Spielberg, Lee, Copolla, Shyamallan, Gibson, etc. Father a University Professor/UN Officer and mother a teacher in Ghana International School, a UN affiliated school and one of the most prestigious private learning institutions in Ghana, Kwaku throughout his life has always been around an environment fostering learning, intellectual and spiritual growth and expression regardless of his families economic circumstances.

A young Kwaku moved with his family to New York in the early 80’s where his father was studying to receive his Economics masters and doctorate degrees in Cornell University. It is here he spent his formative years till he moved back to Accra as a teenager. Being exposed to a variety of different musical genres ranging from High Life, Hip Hop, R n B, Rock n Roll, Folk, Blue Grass, Reggae, Jazz to Blues, etcit was in the US that a large part of his swagger as an artist was cultivated.

Coming of age in Ghana in the early 90’s,getting deeper into his culture and origins Kwaku formed one of the first Ghanaian rap groups, Talking Drums, with his partner Abeeku Ribeiro. With hit singles such as Akwaaba and Aden that blended local dialect with the English language the young teenager created the hybrid sound for what was to become a new genre of Ghanaian music known as Hip Life.

Over the past two decades while travelling vastly around the world he has been involved in a series of projects that have led to the establishment of various music labels both Ghanaian and international, all of which he is partnered. Among these are Warrior Music( Atlanta, Georgia) Pidgen Music (Ghana) and currently Higher-Life Music, which is his most recent Independent Label project as well as the name he has given to his personal genre of music.He has performed on the same platforms as renowned names such as Stevie Wonder, Hugh Masekela, Public Enemy, Jermaine Jackson, Sounds of Blackness, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, P-Square, 2 Face, Keyshia White, Akon, Hip Hop Pantsula (SA), Bantu, Busta Rhymes, Doneo, Lloyd, Omarion,Tumi (SA), Nameless (Kenya)Professor J (Uganda) to name just a few.

In early 2000 Kwaku alongside his Warrior Music compatriots were chosen as the only independent Hip Hop group in Atlanta to perform on the BET 106 and Park country tour show in that city. They performed alongside Lil Jon and the East Side Boys, 112, Monica and Keith Sweat. Being able to work with artists such as *Polow the Don, Keri Hilson, Rich Boy, DJ Benny D (Akon’s world famous dj), Abeeku, Rock City, QD3 (Quincy Delight Jones 111) and Sway who are all making serious inroads in the popular music industry Kwaku is considered one of the crème de la crème of artists and CEO’s to grace the Ghanaian and universal world music scene.

Through a unique style based around his African and multi-cultural identity the Big Brother Africa 2 star has become a symbol of the definition of ‘young Africa’. Currently working on his own reality series the most popular housemate is poised to take entertainment from the African continent global in a direction unprecedented. To say that he is soon to become a ‘popular culture phenomenon’ is an understatement. It isas the creator of the ‘Higher-Life’ music genre himself often says, ‘….the sky’s the limit…..But then again, who knows what that limit is?’
