We Felt Cheated - Billy Ocean

As he parts with Yegoala Nite Club for about a month's now the name Yegoala has received much publicity such that it has become a household name.

Unfortunately the man who was perhaps behind this is Charles Oduro Kwarteng alias Billy Ocean says "its enough" as he quits Yegoala.

According to Billy in April 2006, he entered into a one-year agreement with the management of Yegoala Nite Club to operate the club on a contract basis.

The agreement was that Oceans Records run the club on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on a hire basis.

Ocean Records was also to assume the responsibilities of paying for the electricity bills which was solely decided by the management of Yegoala.

"When we took over the operation of the Club, we had to put in much effort due to the fact that we foresaw the future hence our ability to put in everything we've got".

Billy added that he had to personally embark on a lot of publicity in order to get Yegoala on the lips of almost every club-loving fan. This we were able to do he added. He said when the year was getting to an end he was amazed when management asked that Ocean Records pay for rent which was almost double the original and also that of electricity bills. "This we found a bit awkward, Billy said shockingly".

Billy said they went into the agreement based on trust though there was no paper work and never got that idea. "Though we were to use the place for 3-days a week, Friday to Sunday, we took out the Sundays and did two days weekly but yet we paid four million cedis every month for electricity alone"

Billy also alleged that apart from the weekends, weekdays were to be an operate-and- share basis. "We honored our part but they never did but we were never worried because of the trust we had". He added.

The CEO of Ocean Records who was obviously pleased with the turn of events however said he would comeback with a bang but failed to disclose where and which club he would be operating from.
