Vodafone Ghana Music Awards open for nominations

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) has announced that is has opened up entries for nominations and nomination forms have been circulated nationwide since January 1 and will last through to January 21.

Preparations for this year’s event began in October 2011 with a series of intensive Technical Review sessions that sought to overhaul the entire awards scheme as parts of efforts to revamp the scheme when the new partnership with Vodafone was announced.

The entire scheme was reviewed by a Technical Review Team consisting of a cross section of seasoned industry practitioners and executives who spent several days deliberating on ways to uplift and revamp the scheme. The full outcome of the review exercise will be presented to the media next week and published in the 12th of January 2012 edition of the Graphic Showbiz.

The Technical Review team consisted of: Amandzeba, George Gyimah (Phamous Philms), Nacy (No Tribe), Kwame Faakye, Kiki Banson, Bessa Simons, Richie Mensah (Lynx), Diana Hopeson, Abraham Ohene Gyan, Fred Kyei Mensah, David Kyei (Kaywa) and Joseph Addison (Killbeat). The rest were Sammy Forson, Okyeame Kwame, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, Paul Nuamah Donkor (Jay So), Appiah Dankwa (Appiatus) and DJ Andy Dosty.

Meanwhile, it is announced for the information of music industry practitioners and all interested stakeholders to start collating and gathering data on all their releases and artistes in preparation for submission at Charterhouse offices.

This covers all musical works produced and or released from December 1, 2010 – December 31, 2011, which will then be presented to the VGMA Academy for consideration. The data collection process will involve the filling out of Nomination forms by all artistes and their management, and will span the entire country.

Nomination forms have already been dispatched to strategic points all over the ten regions for industry professionals to have the chance to nominate their works or that of others for consideration for the Awards.http://www.ameyawdebrah.com/
