VIP and Castro d'Destroyer help reopen Liberia's sports complex

Last Sunday evening saw a colorful blend of music from Ghana and Liberia when the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with SG Production invited the two most glamorous Hiplifers from Ghana VIP and Castro d’Destroyer to participate in the reopening of the SKD Sports Complex.

The occasion was the official reopening of rehabilitated and refurbishing of the deteriorated and depredated Samuel Kayon Doe’s Sports Complex (SKD Complex), due to the war. It was exciting and memorable event for the visiting artistes and the homesters

Before Castro mounted the stage for the show, some of the home based Hipo (similar to Hiplife) sensation Bene-Volence, Nigarman, Soul Fresh, Black Soldier, Kwa-Cee, TJ, G-UP, Kalo-Kalo and Princess Margret thrilled the fans with hit songs from their albums. The grounds were then made futile for ‘explosion’.

Then came the introduction of Castro D’Destroyer, Africa 50-Cent (that is how he is referred to here) the charged atmosphere became more electrified when Castro decided to acappellized the most popular song here Toffee. Like a thunderbolt almost in unionism sang almost every line of the song. The whole stadium then erupted as he and Ras Kelly mesmerize the entire crowd with some great foot works to the admiration of all as he leash out more songs from his repertoire, Bue Bue, Boneshaker, Sradinam and when Toffee rolled the fans joined him to sing amidst dancing to the music and shouting in response to the choruses and melodies. It was as if the whole stadium was going to crumble at once no wonder he was lured into the Tartan Track to join in the ecstasy.

The stadium was set agog with the introduction of VIP who are made up of Lazy, Promzy and Prodigal. They were unstoppable and delight to watch as they continue to bombard their fans with hits after hits especially their latest tracks Possy Cat and My Love. Their stage craft was perfect and occasionally joining the fans in the stand for-never-to be forgotten celebration, especially Promzy who was in typically exuberant form response to the cheers from the crowd by throwing his specially designed VIP T-shirt, Cap and Lone star T-shirt into the fans.

The fans loved them and they show their appreciation by applauding every move, song and style they do. It was a great performance by the two most respected and wanted artists from Ghana, no wonder after the show most of them besieged the vehicle conveying the musicians to catch glimpsed of their idols but the heavy security presences scared them off.

Before the show at the stadium the young lad were hosted by the newly opened nightclub called embassy on the Sinkor 20th street. It was a real night to remember as our host Samuel Doe, Shirley and his Lebanese friend Hakem Harb.
