The Holy Hip-hop And R&B Gospel Flavour Can Now Be Heard On The Streets

Steve Kodjo Kelly begins with this introduction, "For those of you who feel shy and hesitate to enter the church, now the gospel is coming to your doorsteps so you can worship and praise God while you are on the streets, in the market, laundry mart, in cars, at work, hospital and prison.

It's worth it to say that this unique style of gospel music being adopted by Holy Hip-hop and R&B praise and worship leader Steve Kodjo Kelly termed Holy Hip-hop is now a common name for everyone in the States. His debut 'Be Lifted' is making a mark on the music scene in the States and other parts of the world.

Gaining such a widespread success with his debut, Steve Kodjo Kelly is now recognised as one of the best Gospel stars in the States.

"I had to take the pressure off myself, admit Steve. God has called me to the ministry of praise and worship. I thank Him for this record and you know what, He takes us from glory to glory, blesses us the more we do His Will and as it is written, I was once young but now I am old and I have never seen the righteous forsaken and neither have I seen His children begging for bread. My focus is to soothe the souls and stimulate the minds of the depressed and bring lost souls in the house of the Lord. Most importantly to feed the youth, adult and young adult with praise and worship with my unique style of gospel music".

Steve Kodjo Kelly's love for praise and worship is continually evident by his ability to find balance in life. He has ministered in Philadelphia at the United Ghanaian Community Church and Full Gospel Church as well as The Apostolic Church International wiht his music. Steve Kodjo Kelly is still on a tour in the United States and expected to be in Ghana by the summer of 2006 for three weeks of worship and praise. As one could imagine, exposure to the sound of the musical heritage of the world has richly influenced Kodjo Kelly's musical repertoire.

"When I went to New York, I almost felt like how can I sing because I?m in a strange land"? I had no friends or family but due to God's intervention, I was able to find my way through".

Recently, he was invited by The Apostolic Church for an event dubbed Sacrifice Of Praise 2006. "It was a different blessing all together to meet some Ghanaian Gospel big names like Stella Addo, Soul Winners, Vivian Ofori, Getty& Friends and Azigiza jr. It was a big surprise for me to see Ghanaians and other Africans screaming and swooning to welcome Steve Kodjo Kelly on stage".

Steve began with 'Thank You Jesus', his hit single blended with rap and hip-hop fused with English and a little bit of Ghanaian language - Twi.

You should have seen how the audience danced their head out. The whole place was filled with dancing and praise. As if that was all, he followed up with 'Jesus Is Coming Soon', a lovely R&B track and came back on stage to give off his final best by performing an unreleased track 'Celebrate The Goodness Of The Lord'.

"I want to use this medium to thank Morphise Records and Disc Manufacturing for lending a helping hand in amking this album a reality as well as the Gye Nyame Records Team.

According to Steve Kodjo Kelly his 'Be Lifted' album will soon be distributed in the United Kingdom, Amsterdam, Germany and Ghana by Wayoosi Music Production.

Steve Kodjo Kelly popularly known as the son of Holy Hip-Hop/ R&B will represent Ghana, Liberia and the entire Africa continent at the upcoming GOSPEL AWARDS 2006 to be held in the United States in the International category.

"I want this album to be an instrument of encouragement during pain and loneliness as well as bad times and good times. My career has taught me the importance of serving God?s people. My first priority, of course is honoring and serving God. Then it?s serving God?s people. He taught us how to serve his people with humility, love, understanding and compassion. God taught me how to love people even in difficult times. That?s the lesson I?ve learnt. Galatians 2:20 reads "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live".
