In line with government policy to link all district capitals with telecommunication services by the end of 1996, the Telecommunications Corporation is carrying out a number of expansion projects, in Ashanti. Work is far advaned to install automatic telephone exchangeat Nkawie, Mankranso, Effiduase and Agona. Others are Offinso, Ejisu, and Kuntenase. Already, Agona and Kuntenase canbe reached by telephoe, using the Kumasi code. This was disclosedyb the Regional Director of Telecommnications Corporation, M r 300 lines is being provided to cater for the 10 sub-urban areas covered under the project. The Corporation is also carrying out the second phase of its accelerated development programme in the region this year. Under the programme, the 10 thousand direct exchange lines at the Kumasi main office will be expanded to 15 thousand.
