Soroptimists Celebrate 20 Years

The British Council Hall, Accra, last Friday hosted a charity entertainment show by Soroptimists as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations.

Featuring the Refreshing Twins, a gospel duo, Nana Baffour Kyeremanteng, Noyam African Dance Institute, Koo Nimo with poetry by Dzifa Glikpoe and Doris Adabasu Kuwornu, patrons who watched the show had a lot to cheer about.

Opening the show, Earl Ankrah and Akushika Acquaye made MCing a real joy to experience as they made their comparing of the show a performance in itself drawing applause from the appreciative audience.

The Refreshing Twins who performed Akasa Nsanberanee, Refusing to Die and Oye Ma Eboroso displayed a wonderful blend of voices, infectious smiles, stagecraft and confidence which won them loud applause and boost the sale of their cassettes which patrons rushed to buy after the show.

Nana Baffour Kyeremanteng proved that he has now come of age as his dexterity on the pepensua has reached a marked peak. The songs rendered in accompaniment went down well with the audience who did not fail to nod their heads, swing to the beats and tap their feet in enjoyment.

Nii Yartey?s Noyam was there to present a couple of contemporary dance pieces which held the audience spellbound as they went through motions of intricate dance movements truly beautiful to behold.

Dzifa Glikpoe and Adabasu Kuwornu were around to treat the audience to thought provoking poetry which received loud applause.

Good old Koo Nimo as usual was at his singing best with a few anecdotes thrown in to make his presentation memorable. Supported by a drum, a banana bell, a prepensua and a dancer who doubled as a backing vocal, Koo Nimo took the audience through memory lane with his music which is always refreshing.

?Young men think they know the rules but old men know the exceptions? is one of the many words Koo Nimo gave the audience to take home.
