Slim Baby Gets Eight-Track Release

Twenty-year old Fred Owusu, who prefers to be called ?Slim Baby?, hails from Bechem in the Brong Ahafo and is an apprentice electrician who intends to veer into the musical arena with his soon-to-be released maiden eight-track album called ?Slim Baby?.

?Slim Baby? has also released two songs for the up and coming December polls as his contribution to ensure peaceful and incident-free polls. He likened the contest to a football match between the two traditional local league premiere rivals, Hearts and Kotoko where passions are usually fever pitched and admonished against animosity towards opponents.

Slim Baby did his elementary education at the Roman Catholic Junior Secondary School at Beecham, where his education has to cease abruptly owing to the early loss of both his parents.

The apprentice electrician sees musicians as instruments of the creator who praise and worship him with unique talents. He therefore wants to use the medium of music to act as a social commentator to help rid society of vices such as teenage pregnancy and drug abuse.

Tracks such as ?Amamfoo?, ?Montsee nea ebayi?, ?Odo? and ?Ghanaian mba? are prominent tunes on the album. Slim Baby?s style of music is traditional hilife since he wants to perpetuate the hilife tradition of Ghana?s indigenous musical genre.

Though the initial recording was done here in Accra at the Vijoe?s Studio in Lapaz, a suburb of the city, Slim Baby is seriously looking for a producer to add a professional touch to the finished product.

To compliment his intended musical career, should it take off successfully, Fred ?Slim Baby? Owusu is also to embark on a computer hardware course to brighten his prospects. This enterprising young man has a lot under his sleeves, we wish him well!
