Sidiku Buari, Crentsil escape death

Reports reaching DAILY GUIDE indicate that A.B Crentsil, C.K Morrison and Prince Osei Kofi, all executives of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and Alhaji Sidiku Buari, immediate past president of MUSIGA miraculously escaped death when a bus in which they were travelling crashed with a taxicab.

The MUSIGA executives were said to have been returning from their national congress in Sunyani when the accident occurred, at Afesipah near Tanoso in the Tano North district of the Brong Ahafo Region.

Those who sustained injuries were rushed to the Sunyani Government and Dua Yaw Nkwanta Hospitals where they were treated and discharged.

According to the report, Prince Osei Kofi was alleged to have had a fracture in the waist and was heard shouting “mo mboa me ooh”, meaning “help me”.

The driver of the bus whose name was given as Kwaku Ofori had a deep cut on the forehead while Alhaji Sidiku Buari, Nat Brew and C.K Morrison had minor injuries and were all responding to treatment.

The former MUSIGA president could however not be contacted by Beatwaves as his phone was switched off.

In a telephone interview, the newly elected president of MUSIGA, Mrs. Diana Hopson stated that the accident was not as serious as people described it.

According to her, even though she was not on board the vehicle, when she visited the victims at the various hospitals she realized that they had minor injuries and that they had been treated and discharged.

Mrs Hopson added that the union would pay all the medical bills of the victims since they were returning from the union’s assignment.

Narrating the cause of the accident, which occurred at about 2:30pm, Mrs Hopson, who was elected even before the congress, said a taxicab crossed the 45-seater bus that was conveying the MUSIGA members from Sunyani to Accra after their national congress.

According to her, the taxicab, in an attempt to cross the bus to a nearby petrol station was said to have had a head-on collision with it, causing the bus to veer off the road.

Mrs. Hopson, who contested unopposed after her rival Gyedu Blay Ambolley was disqualified, said the congress was successful.

At the congress, Nat Brew, Jude Lomotey and Nana Ampadu also stood unopposed for the positions of second vice president, treasurer and general secretary respectively.

A.B Crentsil beat Togbui Edinam Mensah to win the first vice president position.

C.K Morrison triumphed over Prince Osei Kofi to assume the national welfare officer position.
