Rocky Dawuni?s Independence Splash

Rocky Dawuni
Aquarian Records presents the fifth annual ?Rocky Dawuni?s Independent Splash? at the Alliance Francais on March 5, 2005 to celebrate Ghana?s Independence Day with the best of African music in all of its aspects.

Ghana?s most versatile International Afro Roots Reggae artiste, Rocky Dawuni, will feature in a performance that will celebrate all aspects of African culture while serving as a medium of convergence for music, art, business and entertainment.

Rocky is dedicating the concert to the 70th Anniversary of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

Rocky has toured and shared the stage with some of the renowned names in music, from his WOMAD USA debut, alongside Peter Gabriel, Sinead O?Connor and Bonnie Rait to his recent concerts with Steve Wonder in both Accra and Los Angeles.

Rocky Dawuni, together with his partners Cary Sullivan and Bob Dawuni begun this event in 2001 based on Rocky?s large and fervent following in Ghana to create the blueprint for a global festival of African culture and to celebrate the independence of Africa.

Ghana?s Independence is of great significance because, it was the first sub Sahara Africa country to attain independence and the most politically stable in the sub region.

The festival in its full realization will feature artists and groups from within and outside of Africa and present, all styles of music spawned in Africa and of its other African Diaspora.

This will include musical styles from soul, Jazz, Hip-hop and Reggae to traditional African styles.

Since its inception, Independence Splash has attracted an annual audience of about 25,000 people from the West African sub-region and an increase in the number of people making the trip from Europe and the USA, and has a feature of Rocky?s performance with an annual rotation of guest performers.

"Rocky Dawuni Independence Splash" is proudly sponsored by Elike Dezigns, Sign Africa, Alliance Media, Naturel Soaps, Makeba Creates, Keba Clothing, Busy Internet, Sittl shoes, Joy FM, Adom FM, Vibe FM, and Radio Gold.
