Potential Stars Of The Future introduced

This year’s edition of ‘Stars of the Future’ reality show has officially been launched at the National Theatre in Accra. The colourful ceremony was organized to introduce the 12 contestants of the competition to the public.

The 12, made up of seven females and five males who were made to perform live, showed why they earned places at the final stage of the competition.

Although it was the first time many of the 12 contestants were performing live to such a large gathering, they managed to excite the audience with their joint performances and when it was time for them to sing their individual songs for the week, the contestants were obviously dealing with some butterflies in their stomachs. The judges realized the difficulties they were facing because it was their first performances and had words of encouragement for them.

The seven ladies and five gentlemen who will be contesting over the next 10 weeks are Deborah Donkoh, Daniel Nettey, Lauretta Ofori, Ike Ologo, Adwo Amoako, Adina Thembe Ndamse, Stephanie Abbey, Anita Djan, Sheila Brown, Max Joe, Joseph Sarfo-Addo Osew, and David Tetteh. They would follow in the footsteps of Irene and Justice.

When Chris Attoh, host of the series, was introduced on stage, the audience went wild with anticipation. To the avid follower of the SOF series, seeing Chris again on stage was like seeing an old friend after a long while. His dashing good looks and presentational style especially when he was hosting eviction shows and managing to keep the audience in suspense right up to the moment he mentions the name of the evictee, had indeed been missed.

The next 10 weeks will determine who the third winner of the show will be.

To determine this, contestants will be put through different tests with themes like Pop Night, Highlife Night, Gospel Night and Oldies Night. The number of contestants will be pruned down till the final show and one contestant will emerge winner of SOF 2008.

The ultimate aim of the programme which is out to harness musical talents, build and sustain social confidence in the youth to enable them perform well in whatever field they may find themselves, is to produce another star who would take the Ghanaian music industry to another level.

Airing of the series begins on GTV this Sunday June 8, at 2:30 pm with the search - which is on how the journey for the contestants began with auditions. Those who miss this have the chance to watch a repeat of Sunday’s broadcast on Tuesdays at 9:30 pm on the same station.

The inevitable and much dreaded eviction shows will also be aired on GTV every Wednesday at 9:30 pm. Stars of the Future series is a Charterhouse production with sponsorship from MTN, PHC Motors, Coca Cola, Close Up, Castle Milk stout and Somovision. Fans of the various contestants are urged to vote for their favourite to stay in the competition throughout the 10 weeks by sending their names to MTN short code 1758. The public takes 70 % on the decision of who leaves the show and who gets to stay on till the finals.
