Ohemaa Mercy Makes It As One Big Gospel Star

There are very few young female Ghanaian gospel artistes known nationwide like Ohemaa Mercy. This uncommon lady is first among equals. It is difficult to visit Ghana nowadays and not hear of the young talented gospel artiste, who is currently busting the local charts with her album 'Adamfo Papa'.

One thing that makes her different from other gospel artistes is the message she brings to the table -something to keep us going in our everyday activities. Do you want to know the similarity? She started just like everyone; at a tender age in upper primary school.

As you all know, the road to stardom and becoming a legend is very rough and tough. For now, she is halfway through with the help of her husband who is also into music after having gone through financial difficulties in recording.

Through thick and thin, the husband fought to the end, inspired her and stood by her even though they nearly lost interest in writing songs. But as we always say, God's time is always the best. He does not leave His sons to suffer.

Performing at most big gospel concerts in Ghana, Ohemaa Mercy has proven herself by far to be Ghana's most versatile and innovative gospel artiste. Her compelling, melodious vocals and captivative style, stirs, encourages, wins souls and lifts the spirit of both the youth and elderly.

Her current 10-track album titled 'Adamfo Papa' truly depicts the African flavour and you do not have to be a Christian to enjoy the blessings that comes with listening and worshipping with her music. Her soothing and stimulating song, 'Si Abotre' is one that motivates, strengthens and comforts the depressed. You should get to listen to it. The video of this song is something else.

'Made Me Ho' is laced with powerful lyrical messages, skillfully written on a beat that invites you to dance. It gives you the authority to worship, praise, dance, be encouraged and empowered in Jesus Christ as you strengthen your relationship with God. This song in particular was written from a life experience.

Born and raised in the family of Mr and Mrs Amoah, Ohemaa Mercy known in real life as Mercy Twum Ampofo attended St Peters Anglican Primary and J.S.S, proceeded to Ghana Secondary School in Koforidua and finally to SDA Teacher Training College at Asokore, a suburb of Koforidua. To contribute her quota to the nation, she has taken it upon herself to teach at her former primary school.

Ohemaa Mercy who is married with a 3 year old boy by name Kelvin Twum Ampofo has backed songs of gospel greats like Yaw Baah Barima and the gospel family, Davis Ampofo and others.

Ending the interview, this is what she had to say: " I want listeners to know that there is nothing too late for God. They should go all out to get my CD and cassettes and I promise them that the spirit behind this album will help make their dreams a reality. God loves you and I do too".

Under Big Ben Music Productions (her record label), expect nothing but great things. For more information, call +233 24 252 3192.
