Nacy’s new deal for artistes

It appears the only time recording engineer and technical producer Nana Osei, better known as Nacy, feels he is in his real element these days is when he is behind his newly-acquired 48-channel Tascam DM-3200 digital mixer pushing faders and turning knobs to make musicians realise their dreams.

Adjudged the Recording Engineer of the Year at the last MTN Ghana Music Awards (GMA) ceremony in Accra, Nacy has been extremely busy over the last few months recording albums for artistes such as Noble Nketiah, No Tribe, Anita Obeng, Mame Justin, Isaac Showboy, Piesie Esther, Martin Hayford, Daughters of Glorious Jesus and Josh Laryea.

He told Showbiz that he feels so blessed after winning the top engineering award, moving to a more spacious location at Mataheko and re-equipping his studio that he is within a couple of weeks going to offer a 50 per cent discount to 50 musicians who come to record at his studio, now located near the Peace Clinic at Mataheko in Accra. It was previously located within the GCB Tower at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

Nacy also said the studio’s name has been changed from My Life Sudios to Nacy Recordz and that he has invested in new equipment to enable standards in the studio match up any other excellent one in any part of the world.

“Apart from the new Tascam digital mixer which was acquired from the United States, I have also upgraded the studio with new gear including sets of compressors and converters and laid out the place for complete live recordings.

“We were doing excellent work before we moved to Mataheko and the arrival of the new equipment. I want all the musicians to share in my happy mood. The discount deal is something I believe many of them will appreciate.”

Nacy is part of the One Ghana Peace Train and recorded the special peace song which was put together by a collective of the award winners at the last GMA. Artistes who featured on the recording included Kwaw Kesse, Isaac and Ampong, Chemphe, 5Five, Irene and Jane, Ohemaa Mercy and Cee.
He has also finished work on another peace song with his own No Tribe group and says it will be on the airwaves in a few days.

Nacy does not see an immediate end to the extremely busy schedules in his studio. He says he does not mind staying up late to contribute to the realisation of hopes but is not surprised the artistes keep seeking him out.

“I always cultivate good working relations with the artistes. I respect them. Some engineers and technical producers may think they are the bosses and must lord it over the artistes when they come to their studios but it is not like that at Nacy Recordz. We all share ideas.”

For now, the idea is to pamper 50 artistes with a 50 per cent discount for work at Nacy Recordz.
