Cheshire Home calls for assistance

Kumasi(Ashanti Region) 25 Oct. '98 The management of Kumasi Cheshire Home, a mental health care centre, has called on philanthropists and non-governmental organisations to assist the home to extend electricity to its newly-constructed workshop. Mrs Theresa Baffoe, the administrative officer, who made the call, said the dormitories which are being used as workshops could then be used to solve the accommodation problem facing the home. Mrs Baffoe disclosed this to newsmen when members of the Ghana Red Cross Society Mother's Club supported by the youth from various chapters of the society in Kumasi, undertook a clean- up exercise at the Home yesterday. The club also presented items worth one million cedis to the Home. The items included bales of second-hand clothes, female shoes, oranges, soft drinks, bread, key soap and sugar. Mrs Baffoe said the Home trains inmates in vocational skills, religious and social therapies, adding that it currently houses 61 inmates, including 24 females.
