Mr Magic drops ‘Oh Lord’

Up and coming Ghana-based Nigerian rapper, Randy Raphael Okologo alias Mr Magic’s journey into Ghana started like most of his countrymen who travel to Ghana for a change in environment and new opportunities. As part of the new opportunities he seeks, Mr Magic has finished work on his latest single, ‘Oh Lord’ which he hopes to promote in Ghana.

With an instrumental produced by Mr Magic himself and recorded and mastered by Suchzi of Endtimez Studioz in Nungua, ‘Oh Lord’ is an inspirational song that signifies hope for his hustle and dreams. He explains: “‘Oh Lord’ came to me all of a sudden when I was thinking about certain things happening around me and I went to pray by the seaside. I asked God to protect, guide me and have mercy on me because there were so many things happening in my life. I know I am going somewhere in life, so if all these things were to discourage or hold me back from the ‘Prophecy’ then, Lord have Mercy!”

He continues, “The whole verse of the song did not take more than two hours to compose because it was inspiration from my God. It was a father and son thing. So if anyone is trying to bring you down, just say, oh Lord have mercy”.

Mr Magic grew up in the city of Sapele in Delta State, Nigeria where he found his interest in music. According to him, the moniker, Mr Magic was given to him by his crew members back in 2005 when they started a group called Neweraz in Senior Secondary School. He recounts: “They said my flows were filled with tricks, hence the name Mr Magic. We were 5 in the group and did an album but could not promote it. We just did an album launch in our city.”

The rapper first visited Ghana in late 2009 and went back to Nigeria in 2010. He returned to Ghana in 2011 and decided it was ‘time for the prophecy’. “I did not make that decision on my own; I would say fate decided it. It just came to my mind and spirit that it’s time to make the most important step to the prophecy. I entered my fruity loop program on my laptop, made several instrumental, matched them with the songs I had already written and then started with the recording of ‘Give Me Chance’. I went back to Nigeria and recorded another song, ‘Street Hustle’ with my Neweraz members and finally came back to Ghana to record ‘Oh Lord’”.

It isn’t surprising that Mr Magic speaks a lot about a certain prophecy; he describes himself simply as a religious Christian who does not act holier than thou but rather tries to be good and do the best he can. He says he has a great feeling that Ghanaians will accept his music.

“I am currently working on a song with Suchzi titled ‘High’ and I still have 8 songs to do in my album, tagged ‘The Prophecy’. I plan to get some big stars in the game on my other 8 songs, so watch out for me”, he concludes.
