Mega Bash To Welcome Asuafoo

One of the biggest hiplife concerts ever organised in the country came off last Saturday at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi where Lisarf Music Production brought together over 20 groups and individual performers in a mega bash.

The event marked the official out-dooring of Asuafoo, the new hiplife duo, and the launching of their maiden album, Sugar Daddy. The group Asuafoo, also known as the hiplife disciples, comprises of Sabato and Mighazi.

The heavy down pour on the day of the event could not keep hiplife patrons in Kumasi in their beds as they literally besieged the Prempeh Assembly Hall, drenched by the rain, to watch and listen to their idols. Both female and male patrons stood for minutes in the torrential rain to buy tickets to be part of the big show.

When the show finally began at about 9pm, the roll call was simply too long to believe. Some relatively new artistes hit the stage to set the tone for the big boys. The new artistes included Omama Agyei, Osahene, Osa Ray, K2, Rap Sebo, Koo the boy, Obenfo Jehovah and Mzbel.

Etuo Aboba (Bullet) of ?Wo Beko Wo Maame Ho? fame set the tone for the dons, and when they started pouring onto the stage the crowd could not remain in their seats. They danced and sang along with passion.

Hiplife hit makers Lord Kenya, Kofi B, Batman, Kokovelli, K.K. Fosu, Ofori Amponsah, Antwi Ne Antwi, Nkasei, and highlifer Randy Nunoo and his dancers took turns to shake the crowd with sizzling stage performances and body moving songs.

When Asuafoo were invited to be formally enlisted into the hiplife army, they arrived on stage in a rather strange way. They came lying in two coffins ? covered. After some cracking sound effects they came out of the coffins dressed in white cassocks and dropped three of their new songs, hot and crispy, to the admiration of the enthusiastic crowd.

Mzbel, whose song Ade dede has become an instant hit in Kumasi, was invited back stage at the request of the crowd and when she returned the atmosphere was supercharged.

The crowd?s response to the various artistes and their performances showed clearly that hiplife is big in Kumasi. No wonder hiplife greats like Reggie Rockstone, Lord Kenya, Kwadee and Kontihene are all Oseikrom brothers.
