Mammoth concert besieges Osu for Black Stars…Lucky Mensah, Maa Fia, 2 Tee & more give goo

Last Sunday, the much-hyped musical jamboree for the Black Stars, tagged “Ghana 2008”, organized by Dream Team Consult made a stop over in Osu, Oxford Street, the rock or chilling city of Accra.

Fans of Black Stars who thronged the scene had fun. Even at the wee hours of Sunday, the fans were on their feet enjoying the medley of popular tunes the live band gave.

“The good news is that I have been given the franchise to do another one outside Accra but the timing is what we are looking at. The next one, I am hoping to beef it up with Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi”, Mr. Akuaku said.

Lucky Mensah treated people to the best of good ‘old school’ highlife songs. Maa Fia, the female musical gem that is not new to the Ghanaian music industry flagged off the jamboree supplying good tunes.

Even though Praye, Kofi B, Daasebre Dwamena, Mzbel, Tinny and more couldn’t make it, the audience did not miss them because the live band overshadowed their presence.

“When we played the live band, people felt the urge to dance, the live band was felt a lot”, Mr. Akuaku continued.

Bob Okalla dished out rib-cracking jokes to the people that throng the venue. His performance shall not be forgotten.

If these artistes were the main attractions for the night, then Dream Team Consult did not renege on its tradition of bringing the best musicians to help in creating the awareness of Black Stars winning the cup.

“People have taken money from the government and have done nothing. LOC should be taking more airtime. Why must we wait? We don’t know how to claim our own things. I was listening to BBC in my car and the kind of excitement BBC was generating about Ghana 2008, it’s amazing. If a foreigner is hearing all this and he comes and there is no excitement, its bad”, a representative from Dream Team Consult said.

“I was amazed with the kind of people that trooped in. The GFA officials were there to witness the whole thing. The women supporters came from the stadium straight after Black Meteors beat South Africa. That day I got to know we have more than one supporters union in Ghana”, Mr Akuaku shed more light on the nite of the show.

Crowd control was easy for the security operatives comprising men of the Ghana Police Service and private security agencies. By the time the show ended in the early morning of Monday, it was clear that Ghanaians were behind Black Stars in full support.
