Lumba Brothers Together Again

When the news filtered through a while back that the Lumba Brothers, Charles Kwadwo Fosu and Nana Acheampong were coming together again, many were those who thought they were rumours.

But after two performances by the duo, in London and Germany, in September last year, there is no doubt that indeed they are coming together again.

In a chat with Nana Acheampong who came down from Germany last Thursday to honour some engagements during the Easter celebrations, he confirmed that they have already had two performances.

According to Nana Acheampong, on September 11, 2005, they performed together to a huge crowd in London. "We were billed to perform at Amsterdam a week later but it was cancelled because the bandsmen could not make it in time."

"However on September 25, we performed at Hamburg. On the bill were other musicians from Ghana, namely Daasebre Dwamena, Antwi ne Antwi, Batman and K.K. Fosu," he added.

Nana Acheampong said one Mr Donkor of Kumasi Market in London, is the one behind the concerts that have been held so far and with the biggest one yet to be held at the end of the year in Ghana.

"We believe that having performed together successfully like old times, it is time for us to perform for our fans back home."

"And this will happen live soon. We are also in the process of coming out with an album which will feature four songs by the two of us and two each from me and Charles respectively," he said.

He also disclosed that after the Ghana concert they will proceed on a European tour.

To a question as to what form the earlier concerts took, Nana replied that they performed songs from the Lumba Brothers days from albums such as Yeye Aka Akwantuo Mu, Eye Odo Nkoa and Mihu More, Mihu So.

For their proposed concerts he said they will sing their old songs and those from the new album which according to him, were going very well but they had to put the recording on hold due to the Easter engagements.

On their break up in the past, Nana said they have always been friends, even after they broke up. "The break-up was a very professional one. We sat down and decided that we should move on to do our own things. Ever since we have been friends despite rumours that we are not on good terms. We have been close friends," he added.

Nana said that they believed that at the appropriate time, they would be together again. ?And the time has come and we will soon be together in a big way?, he added.

The ace musician said that because people believed they are no longer friends the theme of their concerts was "Peace and Love" for people to know that they are still great friends and they used the opportunity to promote peace and love among all peoples especially Ghanaians.

Last December both musicians released albums. While Lumba released Peace and Love Nana released Abele Walls.
