Lizzy Okrah Releases Third

The local gospel music scene is getting very exciting with new releases hitting the airwaves incessantly. The latest addition to the gospel 'free flow' is 'Osoro Bete' by Lizzy Okrah.

'Osoro Bete' is her third album, and Lizzy appears poised to write her name on the list of top gospel singers this year and beyond.

Last week, the twenty something-year-old musician performed on the popular TV3 show, "Music Music", and the signs were clear that Lizzy was slowly but surely rolling out of her "shy-shell".

Her first album 'Gyae Su' was released under the Despite Music Label about three years ago and since then she has been working quietly to make a big impact on the gospel music scene.

She has been singing in school, at church and as a professional for a total or more than 15 years and that has given Lizzy a good ear for rhythm, and that shows in all the eight songs on the new album.

She employs popular Ghanaian beats such as highlife and 'jama' to invite listeners to the album, lowers their temperatures with reggae swings and cools them off with slow worship cadence.

Apart from the title song, 'Osoro Bete', another song that has great potential of hitting the charts is 'Okeka Keka', which is already enjoying noticeable airplay. The song, a praise medley, reassures Christians that the Lord still had His eyes on them in spite of what the devil and his agents would say.

Other songs on the album, 'Nyame Beye' (God Will Act), 'Odewo Be Pue' (He lead you out) the running theme of the album - believing in the power of God.

And she states clearly that she is out to preach that she is out to preach that in the song, 'Menka Ntom', (I wont shut my mouth).

Lizzy, the last of four children and a native of Akyem Oda in the Eastern region, is presently a member of the Voices of Life, the choir of the Restoration Centre.
