Last Year Was Inspirational

Last year was very exciting and inspirational with most gospel artistes doing very well in the local scene. I remember it like it was yesterday. Year 2004 was my favourite year in gospel music.

Ever since Esther Smith kicked in the door of the gospel world some years back, her name has been on everyone?s lips. After carving out her own niche, she dropped her highly anticipated album titled ?Onyame Boafo? that had many good songs such as ?Nipa?, which dominated the local charts for so many weeks.

Two other musicians who shook the music industry were Prophet Seth Frimpong and Evangelist Diana Asamoah. The former (sometimes called the dancing prophet) who had one soul inspiring album under his belt busted the chart with ?Mehuri So? for many weeks and the latter gained popularity through her strong voice.

Another flamboyant artiste who did very well in the gospel scene was Lady Prempeh. With her soul-soothing track titled ?Onyame Ne Me Kamafo?, she was able to sell her name to the populace.

How can we omit Ama Boahemaa, Kwaku Gyasi and Christiana Love from the list of achievers? They really made a mark in the industry with their tracks that stimulated the minds of many.

Tagoe Sisters also put up a splendid performance last year with their ?Eto Betwa? tune. The duo received a lot of acclaim from the public, as they were able to put Ghana on the gospel music map.

Gospel sisters Suzy and Matt added their names to the list of achievers with their ?Ebeba Mu? song, which received a lot of airplay.

Cindy Thompson, Elder Mireku, Josh Laryea, Amy Newman, Nana Yaw Asare, Hannah Marfo and Grace Ashy cannot be omitted from the ?A? list either. With their impressive performances, they were able to make names for themselves.

Definitely, these great artistes made last year an unforgettable year.
