Larbi Out With His Debut Album "Adom Ara Keke"

Gospel music may have an entertainment element to it but the message it sends through its lyrics is expected to inspire and give hope to the listener.

That?s exactly what the material on Martinson Larbi?s first album does.

Adom Ara Keke is the title of the ten-track album. All the songs were composed by Martinson himself.

Most of the tunes on the album are danceable with very positive lyrics that charge Christians to use every moment as an opportunity to do exploits for God.

The album opens with Adom Ara Keke, a slow piece very appropriate for worship. The song charges people in distress to cry out to the Lord?s hearing and He will surely help them.

Another track on the album, Onyame Beko Amame, is a praise song declaring that no matter the circumstances, praising God must be a Christian?s top priority.

It advises Christians to always wait patiently on the Lord for appropriate direction instead of rushing into things.

In Onyame Tie Mpaebo, Larbi calls on the listener who is sad and weary to trust God, because He alone washes away all sorrows, sadness and pain.

Another song is Akokompe in which Larbi says he will lift his heart and voice with anticipation and cry aloud unto God in praise for his salvation.

A favourite reggae piece of mine which many others may find inspiring and enjoy is Meresanten. This song brings out the best in Larbi as his voice beautifully blends with those of his backing vocalists. It is a song that will surely get listeners tapping their feet to.

Other songs on the album are Yesu Nawaye Mi Seyi, Adom Nsuo, Meresanten, Worship from Salem and Adom Ara Keke.

Larbi was born in Aburi Akuapem thirty seven years ago. He attended Koforidua Anglican Boys School, New Dwaben Secondary School and the Kibi Training College.

He said he started flirting with music at the age of six. He, however, discovered his talent at the age of 15 when he was conductor of the Aburi Presby Singing Band.

Larbi, who is also a guitarist and an organist, said his vision is to set up an organisation that will help uplift the spirits of depressed persons in order for them to discover and accomplish their targets in life.

Larbi said his father, then a chorister at the Mount Zion Methodist Church in Koforidua, taught him to play the guitar and organ in 1985.

He is married to Agnes Martinson and are blessed with two children. They worship at the International Deliverance and Prayer Ministry Abelenkpe in Accra. Larbi is the choirmaster of the church.
