Kwaku Gyasi Wins Most Popular Song Award

Although the awards were evenly given out to deserving gospel performers in the country, Nii Okai still came up tops with three awards at the Ceval Gospel Music Awards.

Award-winning songs and personalities were those that performed very well for the duration of January 2005 to January 2006. 19 Awards were presented at the show organized by Rev. Cephas Amartey and compered by Dzifa Nkansah and Rev. Gabriel Ansah The event witnessed such a low attendance, probably due to the low publicity given to it.

The presence of the laureates to receive their awards added some finesse to the event. Daughters of Glorious Jesus, who are still in a hiatus brought the crowd to its feet with performance of some of their good old tunes.

Results for the awards were collated by officials from Databank. Nii Okai won the awards for Best Inspirational song, best worship song and best music video.

Kwaku Gyasi took home the Best male award and the most covet award for the night, the most popular song for 2005.

Evangelist Diana Asamoah won the best prayer song, Georgia Agyei won the Best praise song and Christiana Love won the best female artist female artist. Ohemaa Mercy annexed the best discovery for the year with Noble Nketia won the best album for the year.

Musical groups Commissioned Family and the Winneba Youth Choir both won awards.

Best producer of the year went to Big Ben, Channel R took way the best radio station and Gabby Arko won the best radio presenter. Jayne Buckman Owoo of Graphic Showbiz won the best gospel music reporter.

A special recognition award was presented to Jesse Jones, a former gospel artist with seven albums and now doing educational tunes related to health.
