Hundreds Turn Out As Future Stars

The newest addition to GMA 2006, 'Record of the Year' cuts across all the Ghanaian genres of music and will favour artistes who have very good songs but due to some circumstances did not turn out to be hits.

In this case Ghana Music Awards 2006 will be showing true love to some very good music that don't make to the hit-list songs.

When it was recently announced, some artistes were impressed about it. Bandana, feels good about this category. Although he's still not sure of his chances, he already knows how he will act if he takes home the award because he has very good songs.

We conducted a research and some people came up with other names like Kontihene's ('Africa'), Shilo ('Hello'), Nana Acheampong, Dada K.D. and more.

The catch about the new category, is that it is adjudged by the Planning Committee as the most outstanding compilation of original songs on an album. It may not have necessarily enjoyed huge commercial success but has quality artistic value.

But with the 'Album of the Year' which is also adjudged by the Planning Committee it has to do with a collection of most of the songs that are hits and this year artistes like Castro, Noble Nketia, Kofi Nti, Ofori Amponsah, Nkasei and Wutah are eagerly waiting to grab the award.
