Homeboy and his highlife dream

Homeboy took an interest in singing while quite young and did not let go of it even when he even travelled to Switzerland in his teens.


After a couple of years of producing non-hit songs, Homeboy wanted to Ghana Music.com to showcase his musical talent to the world to which we granted him a spot in our 1 on 1 category.


Since briefly launching his own singing career over some years now, he has never switched away from highlife music to which he knows one day he will make it in the highlife realm.


His latest single, “Damirifa Dua,” a touching dirge song which talks about our lost loved ones is currently rolling on most of our TV networks.


Rising to meet new artistic and personal challenges, Homeboy recently embarked on yet another exciting endeavour – with a new album, “Damirifa Dua”.


Homeboy spends a great deal of his time recording, but he has also enjoyed a wonderfully fulfilling career as a good highlife.


Homeboy is yet to participate in any major show but hopes one day he headlines a concert in and outside Ghana.


Homeboy is a man constantly seeking new challenges, new ways to maintain excitement both for himself and his fans.


Ghana Music.com: So where did the name Home boy come from?

Home Boy: When I was in school here in Switzerland in my first year I found it was very difficult in their climate weather and their food. So I had to lean on African food to eat, thus my friends always say am always thinking of home. When ever they were looking for me, they just say is where Home Boy.


Ghana Music.com: Since you are based in Switzerland. How do promote your music in Ghana?

Homeboy: My good friend, Nii Annan Armah and King Atipo helping in promoting my music. They have really been helpful.


Ghana Music.com: Currently a video of you is rolling on TV. What’s the funeral music video all about?

Homeboy: The funeral video is about our dear loved ones, who live us alone sadly. One day, one time, we shall meet again.


Ghana Music.com: What does your latest album entail?

Homeboy: The album entails pure highlife.


Ghana Music.com: Highlife in Ghana. What do you think of it and it’s future?

Homeboy: Highlife in Ghana is going be the best of all the music.


Ghana Music.com: Why did you join the musical train?

Homeboy: I joined the music train to make people happy. I don’t know how the world will be without music.


Ghana Music.com: How have some of your songs been received in Switzerland?

Homeboy: They are well received especially in the Afro shops in here.


Ghana Music.com: Any major and memorable performances in Ghana?

Homeboy: No


Ghana Music.com: How come you are never heard of that much in Ghana?

Homeboy: Bad promotion.


Ghana Music.com: What do you think of when you are going to enter the studio and record?

Homeboy: When I enter the studio, I feel good to do nice music for people to understand me.


Ghana Music.com: Why do you and most high lifers talk about love on your album?

Homeboy: Love is the most important in human life.


Ghana Music.com: The future for Homeboy?

Homeboy: Home Boy is coming from no where to take the lead of Ghana highlife music I am coming with love songs.
