Harbour City’s ‘Highest Praise’ Concert This Sunday

This Sunday, August 14, will witness another grand gospel musical showcase as Tema-based Harbour City Mas Choir (HCMC) hosts its annual ‘Highest Praise Concert’ at the plush auditorium of Calvary Temple ICGC, Sakumono, 4pm. This year’s edition themed ‘A Deeper Level’ promises to add up to HCMC’s memorable events which always earn rave reviews.

Speaking to the group’s music director, Dave Osabutey, he related that come this Sunday they have a special package for everyone. ‘We have dubbed this year’s edition ‘A Deeper Level’ for the reason that we all need a deeper level of intimacy with our maker and as well need to take our mandates to another level. Our current focus is widespread evangelism in the grassroots of educational institutions and therefore this concert will help raise funds for the project. We urge everyone to be there to have a great time and experience anointed ministrations from HCMC and our special guest ministers.’

120-man Harbour City Mass Choir is one of Ghana’s notable gospel music groups with trademark fusion of multiple music genres laced with African touch that carry thought-provoking inspiring messages always presented in the most creative way. Hailing from in the harbour city of Tema hence their name, the group formed upon divine direction by Kwame Amihere and Nii Okai was originally Tema Orthodox Youth Choir due to its dominant orthodox membership.

However, with the advent of several new faces from non-orthodox churches and the re-definition of its purpose to reach youths beyond Tema, the choir’s name was eventually changed to the Harbour City Mass Choir. The choir has over the years carried on the then ‘endangered brand’ of live contemporary Ghanaian gospel year on year with sterling compositions, creative arrangements, anointed ministrations and talented musicianship.

After celebrating its decade in ministry last two years courtesy a mega concert featuring 10 of Ghana’s finest gospel music ministers and releasing its maiden live recorded album, ‘Touching Our Youth’ (which took more than two years of preparation and production), Harbour City Mass Choir lined up a ten-city tour across the country which has kept them busy on the road as well as honouring a number of programmes over the years. They have worked with many notable ministries and individual ministers including Alvin Slaughter, Danny Nettey, Nii Okai and a host of others.

Come this Sunday, the 14th of August, Harbour City Mass Choir will stage Highest Praise 2011, the Deeper Level edition featuring Ps. Helen Yawson, Nii Okai, KODA, Ike Nanor, Joe Mettle, Dr. Eyra Tamakloe and Mercy Amoo-Darko at the huge auditorium of Calvary Temple ICGC, Sakumono, 4pm prompt. It is free and will be a memorable experience; just don’t miss out.
