Various entertainment joints and drinking spots were filled to bursting point as lovers of music, clad in national colours, drank and danced to mark the celebration.

At the La Pleasure Beach, there was an impressive beach jam dubbed, "Rocky Dawuni's Independence Splash" organised to initialise the year-long celebration of the 50th independence anniversary of Ghana.

The beach jam attracted thousands of Ghanaians from all walks of life who thronged the La Pleasure Beach to celebrate the golden jubilee in grand style.

Last Tuesday was a great day for the people of Ghana as they came out in their numbers from their various homes to celebrate the golden jubilee.

As early as 12 pm, the Pleasure Beach was filled to capacity with the enthusiastic crowd, most wearing the anniversary shirts and waving miniature flags.

The beach jam did not only provide the opportunity for Ghanaians as well as music lovers to make new friends and create new contacts; it afforded them the opportunity to enjoy great performances from MOBO Award winner, Batman Samini, King Ayisoba, Tic Tac, Rocky Dawuni among others, who titillated their audience with true music "brewed in the Ghanaian Pot".

The atmosphere at the beach was very calm and peaceful as the police provided heavy security to ensure the safety of all.

Music lovers who visited the beach, indeed had a jolly good time, as most them swam, sun-bathed and buried themselves in the sand, whilst enjoying their drinks with khebab.

Some holiday-makers, said they really had more than a good time and hoped other celebrations would have things as good as this in store for them.

At Osu, Vibe FM organised a street carnival to commemorate Ghana's fifty years independence celebration.

At what is being billed as the biggest street party Africa has ever seen", various street parties were held simultaneously within the Osu township to make the celebration a truly memorable one.

The carnival attracted seasoned Ghana hiplife musicians as well as radio presenters and DJs.

Yesterday was indeed a great day for the people of Ghana and its stories may never end for generations to come.
