Ghana gets a rock band, Feint Medal

Perhaps, it would have been outrageous to imagine a Ghanaian rock band a couple of years ago, but today the Ghanaian music scene has grown to incorporate a variety of music styles and surprisingly that includes rock music. Faint medal, an afro-rock band formed by singer/song writer Syn and gifted guitarist, Kyekyeku is not only breaking in but receiving an audience for their music style.

Both Syn and Kyekyeku are well noted musicians emerging from the alternative music scene in Accra having mounted several stages either collectively or individually all over the city and internationally. The deep appreciation for one another’s musical art and the very evident passion that both musicians employ in their individual creative processes make them a menacing artistic duo.

Their sound is greatly influenced by a lot of rock music interlaced with rich African melodies that have been influenced by great musicians like Agya Koo Nimo and Osibisa . The potent mix of rich Pidgin English lyrics into their new blend has seen crowds going crazy and singing along to Feint Medal’s easy melodies and interesting lyrics in a matter of seconds.

The group has since its inception played various events and venues including the maiden edition of ‘La Poilette Takpekpe’ at the Alliance Francaise, Reggie Rockstone’s Office, The Movenpick Hotel, Marvel’s Mini Golf Course and Indie Fuse. They are currently in the studio recording more music to add to the buzzing single, ‘I Dey Feel You Die’ together with Pidgen Music’s Yaa Pono and produced by Kilo.

After performing ‘I Dey Feel You Die’ at a couple of events, it became a crowd favorite and soon fans started requesting for it to be released. The single has been released as the group shoots the official music videos to the soft rock version of the song and the acoustic version.
