Exclusive: Nacy talks of his journey and popularity

From a church hall to a kiosk to a sitting room of a friend, he is now renting an office at Ghana Commercial Bank tower. This is the journey of one of the most after sound engineer now. He goes by the name Nacy. If he does a beat for you, grant it is a hit taking you to places far beyond your imagination.

Nacy, owner of Mylife Studios in Accra, is an awesome engineer, and he has perfect understanding of everything involved in recording– editing the narrative, recording the music, and mixing the tracks. Lord knows he’s done enough of it.

He’s been in the sound recording for some years now but has successfully worked with Antwi Ne Antwi, Noble Nketia, Obour, Nana Antwi, Bosom (now known as Grandpa), FBS, Batman Samini, Ohemaa Mercy, Isaac Ampong, Rev. Prince Nyarko, Grace Ashy, Wofa, Bernice Ansah, Cee, Sidney, Suzzy & Matt, Daughters of Glorious Jesus and many more.

The name ‘Nacy’ was coined from his real name Nana Osei who always wanted to go far to be a technical producer.

He has no degree in sound engineering/producing but pays much respect to Dan Nettey for giving him the green light.

Nacy started as a singer in church, who played drums, keyboard and the bass guitar.

Besides recording; Nacy’s studio offers artiste management, music composition, music production and jingles.

Why are you so popular on the gospel? “It’s because of my spiritual background and that is what has made me what I am now”, he said.

Nacy hopes to invest millions in the studio he has. The other vision is focused on churches and to project gospel music far. “I want to be the number one producer in Africa and am not rushing towards there”, he said.

Why is everyone trooping to you especially? “It’s because am honest and faithful and God has blessed me. People hear about me before they come to me”, he answered.

Nacy who encourages live performances says it’s always collaboration between the bandsmen and the musician.

Nacy has nurtured artistes No Tribe, Bernice Ansah, Vida, Otumfuo, Celestine and Odeefuo to which Ghanaians would be hearing of them soon.

He does not forget to praise Wayoosi of Wayoosi Music Production who has been like a brother to him. “Wayoosi got me machines for my work because I was good and he wanted to help me out”, he added.
