Etuo Aboba Makes Debut

The hiplife industry in Ghana has been expanding with the entrance of new artistes each day that passes. Several Musicians have entered the industry to add their bit to this burgeoning genre of music called hiplife.

One of the newest entrants to the world of hiplife is a gentleman who calls himself Etuo Aboba (meaning bullet in Akan) and he makes his debut with an eight track cassette album called Wo Beko Wo Maame Ho. Some songs on the album, especially both the original and remix versions of  Wo Beko Wo Maame Ho have been enjoying tremendous airplay and one will not be surprised to see it enter the charts soon.

The original track is a good one in terms of the story and the beat that goes with. It talks about a disgruntled husband who sends his wife to her parents and tells them about the misery she had brought him. I can?t marry your daughter anymore, he says, she goes out to disco to dance and then she wears shorts when we go to bed.

The raps in the song are done in a normal hip-hop style and another rendered in dance hall style; liven up the song so much. It also reminds one of the days when asokpo was the in-thing a lot of people danced to.

More interesting is the remix of the song of Wo Beko Wo Maame Ho. The beat flow plus the sound of the bass drum in the background tells one that the latest hiplife sensation Tinny Flesh who has his signature on the song. He comes in with his trademark of Ga rap to change what would have been an all Twi song bi-lingual. Also featuring on this track is the torch?bearer of raglife Yogi Doggi who drops his own rap style to enhance the song.

Other songs on the album are Senketenkete, Yesee Yesee, Oseikrom  Aboagyewaa, Maame Yaa, Dofo Pa, Si Dwom and Etuo mu wo Sum. The album was produced by Ghetto Child Management for Big Daddy Productions with Jones Amponsah Ababio as the Executive Producer.
