Did Ofori Amponsah and Friends on 24th?

A lot of people after the show “Ghana Rocks with Ofori Amponsah and Friends” have shared different opinions and notions about the show and has described it in various ways and this helps event organizers to go back to the drawing board and correct all the rough edges before they start thinking about what next to offer to the public.

Comparing Ofori Amponsah’s performance to that of his show organized in December 2006 there has been a tremendous improvement and all those who were present at both functions can attest to that. A clear example was his rendition; he gave a good rendition of his music through out his performance without a break in the voice.

The performances so far were great starting with the man of God, Pastor Lenny Akpadie. He really paved a good path for the remaining artist and immediately after Pastor Lenny was the Koforidua Flowers man, Kofi B, and with his soothing voice and he held the whole auditorium on their feet dancing to his great tunes throughout his performance. The Ghanaian songstress of the moment who wines and dines with live band music Becca also gave her very best to the large crowd. Father Christmas Kwaw Kese the king of the streets suddenly evaded the hall with his Christmas parcels for his fans.

Daasebre Dwamena also together with his dancer, the national dance champion Paa T, thrilled the audience with good music and from the mockery the monk on the loose appeared with his Maata Family on stage. Shasha Marley lifted the spirit of all the reggae fans and forgetting where they were danced majestically to the rhythm. From Cote d’Ivoire to grace the occasion was the “Hei Alhaji” musician and dancer Jeff Bogologo and his two wonderful dancers.

The charisma in the auditorium shot up when the emcee for the program Chairman Kwami Sefa Kayi introduced the man for the night All 4 Real on Stage. The arrival of Ofori Amponsah was just splendid with 4 beautiful ladies and two macho men dancing to welcome the present highest selling musician on stage.

Singing and dancing on stage for over an Hour with the band backed by the sensational “She” and Adez of Mentor 2 fame was a great achievement on the part of Mr. All 4 Real. The most impressive segment was Ofori Amponsah managing to sing a high key during his rendition because his backing vocalists were both singing on a low key.

All said and done Ofori was defiant against all odds as he “out-staged” Kojo for the battle of who rules the 24th of December 2007. The question on the lips of many after the show was if Ofori was gradually gathering enough momentum to take over the stage on the 24th.

Despite the mixed fortunes the organizers are unperturbed and word making rounds in the 4Reez Camp has it that plans are already in place for a much bigger and better show come the end of this year. Fylla has also gathered that Ofori is to be put on a 6-month intensive training to a particular band so he practices and eventually becomes accustomed to that band.

We are watching to see how that turns out. But where was Samini when many had thought he would be around to do some more “shouting? And why didn’t Barsoky show up for the much talked about public reunion? Ofori prove us wrong again. It might be too early to say but was that the last of the maestro, Kojo Antwi? Your guess is as good as mine.
