Diamond Blasts Former MUSIGA Presidents

Diamond, a hip-hop sensation, has lashed out at Alhaji Sidiku Buari and Dina Hopson, both past presidents of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) about what she described as a rather poor attempt at solving the many problems that the union was confronted with during their terms.

“To be frank with you, these past executives in my opinion did very little or virtually nothing for MUSIGA. There is nothing to show for their stewardship,” she said, adding, “Show me at least one substantive change they brought to the union. It’s just difficult to even point to one meaningful intervention the two administrations brought to the fore”.http://www.ameyawdebrah.com/

Diamond, who is currently out with two tracks, ‘Eat My Apple’ and ‘Popping’, after a sojourn in England, made these known when she was hosted on Hot FM’s Klassic Entertainment last Saturday. Brimming with confidence, she said Obuor’s administration promised to be quite an active one, judging from the caliber of individuals he had assigned to various positions.

“Obuor to me appears to have quite a good plan for the union, and he appears ready to work to give MUSIGA a facelift.” In her views, her critical assessment of the past presidents of MUSIGA should only send out strong signals to Obuor that musicians expected much from him. “The presidency is for providing results, and Obuor must understand these basics. If he puts in the right measures, we shall support him,” she added.

She revealed to Omanhene Kobina Asante, the host that she took special interest in charity and had over the years made frantic efforts to help her cause. Asked about how she intended to prevent children from possibly imitating her wild fashion style, Diamond explained that whatever was seen on TV was just a pictorial representation of what her music talked about and could not be the fact about her. “Even in my videos, I am very careful not to reveal much of my body because I know kids also love to watch me, and I can’t afford to mislead them,” she noted.

Speaking about her track, ‘Taste My Apple’, the spirited and stunning musician cum actress underscored the inherent powers of women that could not be taken for granted. The song reveals the unique dynamics of womanhood and the incredible capacities of women.

Already receiving massive radio airplay and rotations in nightclubs in the country, the track is set to make waves. Also expected to receive heavy reviews by industry pundits and Afro-pop admirers is her second single, ‘Popping’.

The track reveals the change Diamond has gone through after years on the low and brings to the fore her new style of fashion. Enthusiasts of Ghanaian music identify the hip life diva for her clever rap punch lines and flawless bars and there is a strong indication that she will make waves with her music and fashion style.

Born Diamond Appiah, the versatile musician believes that music in Ghana is quite a lucrative venture and with the right system, the industry will produce the best quality that can compete fairly with music anywhere in the world.
